I am a Catholic, mother of four, married to my co-author and colleague, Dr. Michael D. Thomas.

Born and raised just outside of Cologne in Germany, I earned my Diploma in Business Administration from Fachhochschule Aachen and my BS in Finance from George Mason University in 2004. After gaining some experience as a junior portfolio manager at Allianz Global Investors in Frankfurt, Germany, I returned to George Mason University to complete my MA (2007) and PhD in Economics in 2009.

In my research, I explore the unintended consequences of regulation and the role political entrepreneurs play in changing the rules that govern society. I have published in a number of academic outlets including Public Choice, Kyklos, Applied Economics, the Southern Economic Journal, and the Journal of Banking and Finance.

At Creighton, I am Professor of Economics, I teach Principles of Micro- and Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, and Public Choice.

I am Associated editor of the Journal of Private Enterprise, North American Editor of the Review of Austrian Economics, and one of the co-editors of the Independent Review.
